The black metal album of rap: Blackland Radio 66.6 Pt. 2

Updated: Apr 30, 2023

This album has key characteristics of black metal, Repetitive lyrics, lo-fi recording quality, violent subject matter, and unconventional song structures. Despite this it is a dark trap album by legendary underground artist SpaceGhostPurrp. This artist from Carol City, FL is a controversial underground artist but still maintains a big fanbase as he was gonna perform at Rolling Loud L.A. in 2023. “Shoot up rolling loud wit da fuckin pistol”, is a line from Goth Season, a song on this album. That enough displays how much SGP don’t give a fuck. He literally got kicked off of rolling loud because he rants on twitter too much, but as a fan I have gotten used to this behavior as it reflects in his music and the way he abstractly makes his music. The melodies on this album are menacing as fuck and he repeats the same audio recording and loops hard ass sayings in this album. He repeats “M-16 in da back” in this fire part of the song Revenge Pt. 2. The snares in that song are well organized and not too simple but not too complex. We see a chilling phased ass beat by loko los in Better Dayz. The lyrics are just memorable and are good chants such as “Man i stay keepin it trill, man i stay keepin it trill” on T.R.I.L.L. On Nonchalant Music, we hear piercing kicks and an amazing synth melody with talk of “Shalom to my killaz” in the lyrics which is a fire ass line if you ask me. The most chilling beat is So Icy Goth La Flexicos performed by CHXPO and Black Kray, which is an underground classic. The thunder sound effects complete this track. CHXPO’s verse could have been shorter though. Grind Season is a bonus track on the Dismiss Yourself Remastered version, and it is one of the best songs ever by SpaceGhostPurrp. I be walkin down the street and all of a sudden think “GLOCKS ALL IN YO FACE, PUSSY IS ALL IN MY FACE AYE AYE.” This album reminds me of Burzum or something the tracks are simple and repetitive and recorded like shit but still have so much substance to them and this will forever be a classic in my eyes.
